Non-Toxic, Cruelty-Free, Clean Skin/Makeup

Let's talk about "clean", "non-toxic" , and "cruelty-free" beauty and skincare. These labels are thrown around a lot over social media and I decided to do some research myself. I am a person who buys organic and clean food as much as I can, so the idea of clean beauty intrigued me.

Long story short, non-toxic simply means made without ingredients that can be toxic to the body. Simply put if a product has the little bunny logo, that means it is cruelty free and that its ingredients and the product itself has NOT been tested on animals. It is still important to read up on certain products to double check...

From my research, having the label "non-toxic" or "clean" means that the product does not contain Parabens, Petroleum Distallates, Polyethylene/PEGS, BHA, fragrance, and many others. I am going to link a handy photo I found from "Hello Glow" that lists the big ingredients to avoid when shopping for skin care and makeup. Being someone who has oily, sensitive, and acne-prone skin I am always looking for products that will not make my skin even worse...and I thought I would test out some "clean" beauty. The one thing I must recommend is do not try and switch over all your products at once. I was in need of a new deodorant, mascara, and blush so those are the products I will be talking about today.

As usual all products are linked to our amazon shop! So click away and take a look at these wonderful non-toxic beauty products!

1) Love beauty and planet lavender deodorant: I have been using this deodorant for about 2 weeks and I LOVE it. I had seen this brand before at target, but had no idea it was non-toxic and cruelty free and super affordable. I ordered mine off of amazon, but target has a whole range of products from this brand. The main toxic ingredient in deodorant, besides fragrance, is the active ingredient: aluminum. Aluminum is what blocks the sweat and odor glands that are released when you sweat or workout. People are very conflicted on whether aluminum is linked to breast cancer (applied to close the breast) and other health-related issues, but I would rather be on the safe side! Also I prefer a brand that is cruelty-free and non-toxic for something that I use and put on my body every single day. Now instead of using fragrances, this particular deodorant uses essential oils as the smell.

Ingredients: The Love Beauty and Planet website says "this deodorant is 96% Naturally Derived and cruelty-free, aluminum-free, paraben-free, & alcohol-free"

Recommend to a friend? 100%! Not only does this do the job of making me smell fresh all day, but it also goes on clear and does not leaving annoying white marks on my clothing! I got into my boyfriends car after a sweaty workout and he commented on how GOOD I smelt... This never happened with my old deodorant, so bonus points for that. This brand also makes other scents that I cannot wait to try. Also- FYI I am not a person who is usually concerned with body-odor, so I am unsure how this would work for a person who normally uses clinically strong deodorant.

2) Essence I love Extreme Mascara: I have been using this deodorant for about 2 weeks and I LOVE it.

Recommend to a friend? 100%! For the price, non-toxicity, and cruelty-free aspect of this product, you cannot beat it! I do not wear mascara often, but when I do I love this mascara. It provides great length and does not get all over my eyelids. I also noticed that it does not clump up or look thick.

3) Honest Beauty Creme Cheek Blush: This highly pigmented blush goes on super easy and provides a dewy finish. I also love that a little goes a long way with this product. I use my fingers to warm it up and then dot it along my cheeks for a rosy finish! I also love using this as a lip color and even on my eyelids. Products that are multi-use are my favorite because I do not like carrying around tons of makeup especially when I travel.

Recommend to a friend? 100% For a non-toxic and clean product I love this blush! I think if someone is in need of a new blush/lip color I would highly recommend this brand. I have only tried this cheek color from Honest, but I will def try more in the future. It is hard to find products without the bad stuff, that are still as effective!

3) cocokind Chia Seed Organic facial oil

Having oily skin, a facial oil is something I have always steered clear from because I worried it would make me even oilier! After talking with my dermatologist, I learned that my skin is oily because it is dehydrated and overproduces oil to compensate for the dehydration. Finding a clean, non-toxic, organic facial oil with minimal ingredients that was under $100 was extremely hard. A friend told me about the cocokind brand and when I asked her what product I should try she recommended the cocokind Chia Seed Organic facial oil. Cocokind describes this oil as "deep yet calming" serving as a "daily moisturizer and source of nutrients and antioxidants to fight free-radical damage". The chia seed oil is rich in omega 3 and omega 6 as well as chamomile flowers.
