Weekend Trip: SLO

Recently, my fiancé and I took a weekend getaway to San Luis Obispo. My brother was doing his official college visit for basketball so we decided to join and make it a weekend of our own! SLO is such a perfect weekend getaway, it’s not too far (the road trip up there is a blast), its gorgeous, and there is so much to do! Here’s some of the highlights from our trip:

Solvang, CA

This is the cutest little Danish-style town. It’s on the way there so we always stop on our way to get some food and walk around. I love the Copenhagen Sausage Garden (for a beer, brats, and a pretzel) and I love walking around and getting pastries from the little bakeries all over the town (you can’t go wrong with any of them but my favorite is Birkholm’s Bakery & Café)

Downtown SLO Farmer’s Market

The Farmer’s Market happens every Thursday night from 6pm-9pm in downtown. They block off the entire street and fill it with food stands, live music, and all the restaurants and bars are open to check out too (they have the best BBQ ribs and tri tip stands). It’s a blast to walk around, try different kinds of food, and people watch. If you can get up there for a weekend on a Thursday, make sure you check it out!

Edna Valley Vineyard

We wanted to do some wine tasting and got tons of recommendations for Edna Valley Vineyard. The wine was great (not too pricey either), and the vineyard was gorgeous. If you’re wine tasting, this is a must.

Malene Wines Rosé Vintage ’69 Airstream Trailer

We got the recommendation to come here when we were talking to this guy at Edna Valley. They have rosé on tap (amazing) and serve it out of their refurbished mobile trailer. Everything is decorated decked out in pink. If you love rosé (who doesn’t) this is a must.

Oceano Dunes – Pismo Beach

This is such a fun place to stop. You can drive your car on the sand and rent ATVs to ride around the dunes. We stopped and drove on the sand for fun on our road trip home.

State Street – Santa Barbara

We always stop here to eat and walk around a little on the way up or back home. There’s amazing food, good happy hours, and tons of shops to check out.

Restaurants we loved: - Apple Farm

- Giuseppe's Italian Restaurant

- Lincoln Deli

- Firestone
